Mamquam River Trails

Family-friendly with river access

Located between the Squamish Golf and Country Club and the Mamquam River are a series of trails through the Mamquam River Salmon Spawning Channels. These channels are fed by the Mamquam River and every fall are filled with Coho and Steelhead coming from the far reaches of the Pacific Ocean to spawn.

There are roughly 4km of trails here, ranging from wide, flat, gravel tracks to easy, loamy singletrack trails. It’s more of a walking area than a hiking area but the scenery is straight out of a nature show.

There are lots of little trails here that intersect the main gravel paths and it’s an easy place to take in your surroundings for a couple of hours. Along the way, the trails have small offshoots that meander to the shores of the Mamquam River. This is a fast flowing river so be mindful of the water’s edge.

The trails continue south and eventually follow a wooded section along Highway 99 to the underside of the bridge over the Mamquam River. From here, you can turn back or continue on exploring the shores of the river. Most people use these trails as an out and back but there is a link up to the trail system in Brackendale if you’re feeling like a three to four hour outing.

Getting There
