Backpacking on Vancouver Island Book Launch in Squamish with Taryn Eyton

Join local author Taryn Eyton as she celebrates the launch of her new hiking guidebook, Backpacking on Vancouver Island.

Taryn's presentation will give you a peek behind the scenes of what it's like to write a backpacking guidebook. Hear stories of her adventures (and misadventures) while researching her guidebooks Backpacking in Southwestern British Columbia and Backpacking on Vancouver Island. As a long-time volunteer with Leave No Trace Canada, Taryn will also discuss the intersection of wilderness ethics, gatekeeping, and outdoor writing and answer the question “How do we protect the wild places we love while making them accessible to hikers and backpackers?”

After the presentation Taryn will stick around to sign books and answer questions. All proceeds from the event will be split between two organizations that are close to Taryn's heart: Friends of Garibaldi Park Society and Colour the Trails.
