Red Bags, Big Impact

Bag It + Bring It In = A Treat on Us!
Help keep Squamish clean and beautiful with the Red Bag Program
What is the Red Bag Program?
This summer, you’ll spot Tourism Squamish’s Destination Stewards—just look for the bright yellow shirts and the #ExploreSquamish info trike—out in the community helping visitors and locals alike with tips on how to explore Squamish responsibly.
Now in its second year, the team will be handing out red garbage bags to campers, hikers, and anyone who could use a little help keeping the trails and campsites clean, whether it’s for packing out their trash or picking up what others have left behind.
As a small thank you (and a bit of extra motivation to do the right thing), anyone who fills a red bag can bring it back and trade it in for a treat: a coffee, an ice cream cone, or yes—even a lager. No need to stick with the lager if it’s not your thing—just check in with the participating breweries, cafés, and ice cream shops to see what they’re offering.
How Does It Work?
1. Pick up a Red Bag
Find our Destination Stewards, just look for the bright yellow shirts and the #ExploreSquamish info trike around town or stop by the Squamish Adventure Centre to grab your free red bag.
2. Fill it Up
Use the red bag to pack out your own trash, or help by picking up any litter you see along the trails, campsites, or parks.
3. Bring it Back
Return your full red bag to the Squamish Adventure Centre when you’re done.
