Father's Day Activities in Squamish
Whether it's Dad's first or fiftieth Father's Day, why not spend the day showing him some love? To prep for the occasion, we've put together a list of activities you can enjoy together in Squamish. From thrilling whitewater rafting to a relaxing round of golf, here's our lineup. They might not be the most groundbreaking ideas, but we guarantee he'll appreciate these more than another necktie!
Picnic, Walk & Play at a Local Park
Squamish has some lovely waterfront parks and playgrounds to enjoy, perfect for an outside afternoon. Alice Lake Provincial Park has a playground, picnic tables and a sandy beach, while the new Sp’akw’us Feather Park features wonderful views of Howe Sound and Shannon Falls, an interactive playground AND it happens to be adjacent to the new House of Lager brewery. Coincidence? We think not! See all of Squamish's park areas here.
Go Fishing
Squamish has a variety of fishing areas that will get you and your Dad hooked in no time. Peruse through the local spots here or book a day out with a guide. Deep Coast Charters, Trout Fishing Guides, Valley Fishing Guides all have expert guides who will make your day extraordinary.
Experience the Thrill of Whitewater Rafting
Splash around in Squamish's whitewater rivers where families can opt for a more relaxed trip on the Cheakamus River or an exhilarating adventure on the Elaho-Squamish River with Canadian Outback Rafting.
Hit the Links
Take Dad out for a round on one of Squamish’s two golf courses. Squamish Valley Golf & Country Club or Furry Creek Golf & Country Club are both open, advance bookings required. Book early so you don't miss out!
Sample Squamish's Watersports
Hit Howe Sound this Father's day and experience the water while paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing. Check out Norm Hann Expeditions and Squamish Watersports for the ultimate in water sport activities, lessons and guided tours. You can rent a canoe with Squamish Canoe Rental.
Take Dad Mountain Biking
Take Dad to Corsa Cycles to pick out some new bike gear then head over to the Garibaldi / Diamond Head zone for some time on two wheels. Don’t miss our signature machine built trail Half Nelson, a local's favourite well suited for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders! You could also give E-Bikes a go with rentals through Blazing Saddles Adventures, Bluebird Coffee, Tuning and Rentals or Dialed In Cycling.
Take a Flight Above Squamish
Take Dad on a memorable heli or flightseeing trip above Squamish. The incredible views will give you lasting memories of a special day.
Try a Family Charter Cruise
Take the whole family and sail through North America's southernmost fjord with Canadian Coastal Sailing or hop onto a charter boat with Deep Coast Charters. Boats are great size so you can bring the entire family to enjoy the day together, whether you want to enjoy the scenery, search for wildlife or drop a line and fish.
Treat Dad to Dinner
Take Dad to one of Squamish's many eateries for a special Father's Day meal. He'll love the Copper Coil Still & Grill and their menu of burgers and BBQ, or give a local brewery a shot so Dad can taste some brews along with his meal at Backcountry Brewing or Howe Sound Brewing. Try out the new House of Lager, or hit up the patio for cocktails at The Broken Seal. View Squamish restaurants here.
Head Up High
A visit to the Sea to Sky Gondola always makes for a special outing. Take a hike up at the top or grab something to eat and a cool beverage to enjoy while you drink in the amazing view.
Take an Afternoon Hike
Trail time is quality time, making it a great way to catch up on all the little things in life that are worth sharing. You can view a list of recommended trails here.
Time Indoors
If you prefer the idea of some indoor time with Dad, head over to Arrow Wood Games to pick up a new game or join in on one of their gaming nights. You can also peruse the selection of reads over at Gather Bookshop and Book Mountain (these guys also carry a selection of vintage records!). And who's to say Dad's aren't into inner peace and connectivity? Why not try a breathworks class at Breathworks Studio or do some cold plunge therapy at Plunge Wellness.
