Our Exclusive Interview with Refresh Market

Our Exclusive Interview with Refresh Market

Refresh Market returns to the West Coast Railway Heritage Park on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27. The market lineup features a meticulously curated selection of handmade and locally designed clothing, jewelry, ceramics, art, vintage, artisan food, skincare and homewares from neighbourhood favourites as well as up-and-coming artists and brands.

Visitors can expect to find 100 local vendors, plus food trucks, tin type portraits, tarot readings, music and more in a creative community environment. The first 50 to arrive on either day receive a Refresh Market swag bag. Read on for all the inside information from our exclusive interview with Refresh Market.

What kinds of things can shoppers expect to find?

Our markets feature a lineup of 100 artists, makers and small shops from across B.C. We hand pick our lineup and reserve a set number of spaces for new market vendors to ensure a fresh selection of market goods each season. Guests can expect to find handmade and vintage clothing, jewelry, small batch food and craft beverage, art, ceramics, homewares and other items, many of which are one-of-a-kind.

Are there any special activities happening at this season's market?

DJ Sean Kozak will be back to spin tunes for us all market long, plus we’re welcoming back Rhonda from The Oracle for tarot readings, and Ian Azariah who creates vintage wet plate portraits from his mobile darkroom called Tin Type Trike. We'll be serving craft cocktails on Friday evening and Counterpart Coffee on Saturday at the Refresh bar and lounge. We'll also have a beadwork table for the kids, Mountain Squeeze, Carte Diem, Teriyaki Boys and Flaca's Tacos in the food truck zone, and Alice and Brohm scooping ice cream from inside their boler.

What new vendors should shoppers look out for?

We have more than 30 new vendors across all market categories this season, including jewellers Wolf Circus, Noon and Rish, clothing designers Wisefolk, We are Stories and Old Fashioned Standards, potters Beth Hawthorn, Madelaine Mongey and Lisa Warren, organic skincare makers Pink House Organics and Hello Sunday and zero waste shop Refill Road - to name a few! Here is a closer look at 10 Refresh newcomers

Everyone is dying to know what's in this season's swag bags, can you share a sneak peek?

We share daily swag deliveries and vendor prep in our Instagram stories so anyone following along will have a sense of what could be inside. Each bag is slightly different, but those among the first 50 to arrive on either day can expect a full bag of gifts worth the wait.
