Family Day brings an extra day to slow down and enjoy quality time together. Whether you’re heading outside or staying indoors, Squamish is full of family-friendly experiences everyone can enjoy. To make planning easy, we’ve put together a weekend guide packed with ideas to help you make the most of the holiday.
Day 1: Family Day Weekend Escape in Squamish
Start your Family Day weekend with breakfast at Sunflower Bakery Café, a cozy local spot loved for its baked-from-scratch treats. With muffins, pastries, and simple breakfast options, it’s an easy place for families to fuel up before heading out for the day.
Next, make your way to the Sea to Sky Gondola for one of Squamish’s most memorable experiences. A scenic ride lifts you high above Howe Sound, opening up panoramic views of mountains, forest, and ocean. At the summit, families can choose from short walks, ice skating, tobogganing, and scenic viewpoints that are accessible for a range of ages and abilities. It's an easy way to experience Squamish’s alpine environment.
Sea to Sky Gondola: Enjoy 30% off lift tickets after 4pm, plus a free kids’ meal (ages 0–12) with every adult meal purchased.
Right next to the Sea to Sky Gondola is the third tallest waterfall in British Columbia and one of Squamish's best natural attractions, Shannon Falls. Watch the water cascade over the granite and take a stroll on the well-maintained boardwalk to explore some of the area’s towering trees, old-growth stumps and ever-present mist from the roaring falls above.
For lunch, make your way to Howe Sound Brewing, known for it's incredible views of the Stawamus Chief and mouth-watering menu. With a relaxed atmosphere and a menu full of familiar favourites, it’s a comfortable spot for families to refuel before an afternoon of adventures.
Spend the afternoon at Airhouse Sports Academy, where kids can try trampolining, skateboarding, parkour, gymnastics, and more in a safe and fun environment. There’s something for everyone, from little ones just starting out to older kids who love action sports, helping them build skills and confidence while having a blast. Drop in sessions are open for participants of all abilities and all ages, although they have dedicated sessions for specific categories.
At dinner time when hunger hits, make your way to Locavore Bar & Grill for dinner. The approachable menu makes it a solid choice for families, with plenty of options to keep both kids and adults happy.
As the day winds down, hop next door and treat the family to Alice + Brohm. Known for creamy, small-batch flavours made with quality ingredients, it’s a sweet way to end the day.
Snuggle up and spend the night at Sea to Sky Hotel, a popular choice for travelling families. With a hot tub, dry sauna and spacious rooms, it’s a great home base for the weekend.
Day 2: Family Day Weekend Escape in Squamish
You can't start your day without breakfast. Fill up on something delicious at RideHub Cafe with their hearty, made-locally options. From breakfast wraps to chicken-pesto ciabattas, you and the kids will be ready for your day.
After breakfast get some fresh air and explore outside. Squamish’s vast trail network invites you to explore the outdoors and experience its mountains, rainforests, and granite monoliths. With scenic, accessible trails and more adventurous routes, there’s something for all ages and mobility levels.
Continue exploring and step into a magical emerald green forest when the Squamish Canyon opens at 10:00 a.m. Did you know during the long weekend kids can visit for free? Elevated walkways wind through the forest, offering dramatic views of waterfalls, granite walls, and rushing water without requiring a long hike. Right on site, Little Cedars Playground is a must-visit for the younger kids.
From February 14 - 16, 2026, kids can visit Squamish Canyon for free.
For lunch, you'll want to visit Hop Creek Farms where you can enjoy local eats from their bar and food trucks on site. Sit back, relax, let the kids roam the farm and make sure to say hi to all the farm animals.
After lunch head to The Ninja Gym for a drop-in session. This huge indoor space is filled with fun obstacles inspired by the TV show American Ninja Warrior. Kids can climb, jump, and swing their way through courses that build confidence, balance, and strength. Whether it’s your first time or you’re already a ninja pro, there’s something fun for everyone to enjoy.
From the Ninja Gym, head to Britannia Mine Museum for the perfect hands-on activity for kids and adults. One of Squamish’s most engaging family attractions, the museum brings history to life with an underground mine train, interactive exhibits, and their immersive BOOM! show. It’s an entertaining and educational stop that keeps kids curious and entertained. Did we mention you can pan for real gold?!
Britannia Mine Museum offers 50% off admission from February 13–16, 2026.
After you've worked up an appetite, it's time for dinner at Outbound Station, conveniently located beside Britannia Mine Museum. Try their well-known smash burgers and take in the Sea to Sky views.
For a little treat, head three minutes down the road to Kawartha Dairy. You’ll find over 30 rich and creamy ice cream flavours, including lactose-free options, dairy-free sorbet, and gluten-free choices that everyone in the family can enjoy. It's a perfectly sweet way to end your weekend in Squamish.
