Family Day means a long weekend to spend time together. From outdoor adventures to creative activities, Squamish offers plenty of ways to keep kids engaged and parents happy. We’ve pulled together a Family Day weekend itinerary to help you make the most of it.
Day 1: Family Day Weekend in Squamish
Start your Family Day weekend with breakfast at Crabapple Café, a local favourite known for its welcoming atmosphere and crowd-pleasing pancakes. From Banoffee and Strawberries & Nutella to Apple Cinnamon, there’s something for every sweet tooth, plus thoughtful options for a range of dietary needs.
Begin the day’s adventures with a visit to Britannia Mine Museum, one of the region’s most engaging family attractions. Ride an underground mine train, explore historic buildings, and experience BOOM!, the award-winning, multi-sensory mill show that brings the site’s industrial past to life. Dress warmly, as the underground areas can be cool.
Britannia Mine Museum offers 50% off admission from February 13–16, 2026.
When it’s time for a casual meal, stop at the Squamish Valley Golf Clubhouse. This relaxed, family-friendly spot serves kid-approved favourites like grilled cheese, chicken strips, wings, and poutine, and is open to the public year-round.
After lunch, head outdoors to explore Squamish Canyon. This easy-access canyon experience features an elevated boardwalk with views of rushing water, granite walls, and coastal rainforest. On site, Little Cedars Playground offers a nature-inspired play space where kids can climb, explore, and burn off some energy, making this a great stop for families with younger children. Over the Family Day long weekend, kids visit Squamish Canyon free, making this an easy and affordable afternoon outing.
From February 14 - 16, 2026, kids visit Squamish Canyon for free.
In the afternoon, slow the pace and sip your way through the 6th annual Squamish Hot Chocolate Festival. Local makers have created creative, comforting flavours perfect for a winter weekend. Pick up a tasting passport at the Squamish Adventure Centre, collect stamps as you explore, and return your passport with 10 or more stamps for a chance to win the grand prize.
Wrap up the day with dinner at The Copper Coil Still & Grill, where southern comfort meets West Coast flavours. The menu focuses on quality local ingredients, with kid-friendly staples like mac and cheese, burgers and fries, and chicken strips.
After a full day of exploring, settle in for the night at Sandman Hotel & Suites. A favourite with families, the hotel features an indoor pool and kid-approved waterslide, perfect for burning off extra energy before bedtime. Spacious rooms, complimentary breakfast, and convenient in-room amenities make it an easy and comfortable base for your Family Day weekend.
Day 2: Family Day Weekend in Squamish
Wake up in Squamish and start the day with breakfast at Fergie’s Café, a beloved local spot tucked into the forest along the Cheakamus River. Known for its legendary brunch, this is a relaxed place to ease into the day while kids play on the lawn and parents enjoy a great cup of coffee. Be sure to browse the on-site greenhouse for locally made gifts and treats before heading out.
Next, make your way to the Sea to Sky Gondola, where a scenic 10-minute ride lifts you high above Howe Sound and the surrounding coastal mountains. At the summit, families can choose from a variety of winter activities suited to different ages and abilities, including snowshoeing, tubing, ice skating, and short walks to scenic viewpoints. When you're hungry, grab lunch at the convinently located Sky Pilot Smokehouse. Enjoy a sandwich, poutine, or burger while looking over one of the Sea to Sky's most stunning views.
When you're back at sea level, continue sipping through Squamish Hot Chocolate Festival's delicious and unique creations.
For a quieter, indoor afternoon, head into town and spend some unplugged time at Arrow Wood Games. With board games, puzzles, and imaginative worlds to explore, it’s a great way to slow things down and enjoy some quality family time together.
Round out the weekend with a classic Sunday roast at The Brackendale Art Gallery. Inspired by traditional UK gastropubs, the menu focuses on quality ingredients, comforting flavours, and a relaxed setting that works well for families. It's an ideal way to wrap up your Family Day long weekend in Squamish.
