The Big Weekend

Three Festivals, One Unforgettable Celebration in Downtown Squamish

For the second consecutive year, Squamish Arts and Downtown Squamish are bringing together three of Squamish's most-loved events, the Squamish Arts Festival, Squamish Mural Walk Festival, and Open Street Day for one vibrant weekend celebrating art, culture, local business, and community connection.

On Saturday, July 26th, Cleveland Avenue, from Pemberton Avenue to Main Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic and transformed into a lively pedestrian-friendly festival hub. Visitors can explore live mural painting, local artists and artisans, music and performances, community activations, outdoor business experiences, and family-friendly activities throughout Downtown Squamish.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the Squamish Mural Walk Festival, where visitors can watch talented artists transform walls into vibrant public art in real time. This year's festival will feature two permanent murals and nine temporary murals, continuing to build Downtown Squamish's growing collection of public art.

The Squamish Arts Festival takes over Junction Park from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering a full day of live music, cultural performances, an artist and artisan market, food trucks, interactive activities, and hands-on arts experiences for all ages. Headlining the stage this year is singer/songwriter Caley Watts, spotlighted by CBC Music as one of 5 Indigenous musicians to know in 2025, and whose debut album River’s Daughter was just released this spring. Squamish favourites like Bluesberry Jam Showband and the DJ Ira Dance Party will also take the stage.

That same day, Open Street Day invites residents and visitors to experience Cleveland Avenue in a different way, as a space designed for people rather than cars. Community organizations, local businesses, and performers will activate the street with engaging activities while encouraging active transportation and showcasing the value of vibrant public spaces.

Whether you're watching a mural come to life, shopping the artisan market, enjoying live music, discovering local businesses, or simply soaking up the festival atmosphere, The Big Weekend offers something for everyone.
