Opening day at the sauna behind the Brackendale Art Gallery

The wood-fired sauna in the trees behind the Brackendale Art Gallery opens Saturday, November 14. For this one day only, drop-ins are $20 + GST per person. Make sure to make your booking through the link in the sidebar!

What to expect

Secret Sauna Company runs the sauna, and Zephyr @ The Bag, the gallery’s own kitchen, is taking care of the food the food. From 1:00pm to 3:00pm, you are invited for the free ribbon cutting celebration. Anyone can come, booking or not.

The fire is lit at 7:00am. Sessions run at 9:00am, 11:00am, 3:00pm, 5:00pm and 7:00pm. Each lasts 90 minutes and fits up to 12 people. Pour your own water on the stones while the crew keeps the fire going.

The 9:00am session is silent. No talking inside and phones put away. Quiet voices outside are fine.

What’s included

Your drop-in comes with food from the Zephyr while supplies last. Expect soup and bread, cheese and charcuterie, fruit and a juice bar, all set out through the day.

What to bring

Bring a swimsuit and your own towel. There’s a cold shower by the changing area. Sessions are 19+, and we ask guests to skip alcohol for the four hours beforehand.

The celebration

At 1:00pm, the ribbon is officially cut at the path gate. Lee and Anthony, who own Secret Sauna Company, will give a short welcome. A table will be set up for Founding memberships.

Around 2:00pm, there’s a free prize draw with a total value of about $410 in total. Prizes include a steel and driftwood sauna bucket and ladle, and a one-month sauna membership. The draw is free to attend in the Gallery, but is 19+.
