First Spin: Pottery Wheel Intro Session

New to pottery? This one-session class is a great way to get started on the wheel. Whether you're just curious, looking for a creative night out, or thinking about joining our Wheel Pottery Foundations course, this class is designed for total beginners.
Over two guided hours, you'll learn the basic techniques of wheel throwing, make up to two simple cylinder forms, and get a feel for the tools, rhythm, and joy of working with clay. You’ll be walked through each step as a group — no one gets left behind — and your instructors take care of the trimming and glazing after class so you can simply enjoy the experience. Choose from a few glaze options and pick up your finished pieces a few weeks later.
What You’ll Learn:
- Centering your clay
- Opening and pulling walls
- Compressing and checking base thickness
- Prepping your pieces to come off the wheel,
You'll also get a quick intro to the core tools and techniques of wheel work, including sponges, trimming tools, and wire cutters.
What’s Included:
- M340 Clay to practice and create your own pieces
- Tools for shaping and finishing
- Bisque and glaze firing of your piece.
What to Bring + Personal Safety:
Please bring your own apron or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. For your own personal safety during this class, please wear closed-toe shoes, ensure long hair is securely tied up and out of the way, Remove all jewelry, Do not wear loose clothing.
