This Friday and Saturday marks the return of Refresh Market, the largest two-day market in the Sea to Sky Corridor for handmade and locally designed wares. Held biannually in Squamish at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park, the event features 100 artists, makers and pop-ups and is known to draw major crowds.

Here’s what you should know if you’re planning to attend.

What to find: A highly edited selection of clothing, ceramics, homewares, artisan food items, vintage, jewelry and more from individual makers and shops, each bringing a range of their most sought after items.

What to taste: In addition to sampling the items from participating artisan food vendors ranging from grain-free granola to  crackers to all-natural marshmallows and nut milk, more than a half dozen food trucks will be set up outside with salads, curry, mediterranean, donuts, ice cream, smoothies and cold-pressed juice (gluten-free and vegan options included).

What to bring: Comfortable shoes, a reusable shopping back and plenty of cash, although many vendors accept payment by credit card. An ATM is also available on site but it has been known to empty throughout the day.

When to go: Market hours are Friday, April 28 from 4 to 9 p.m. with happy hour drink specials from 4 to 5 p.m., and Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a floral design workshop from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The first 50 to arrive on both days will receive a market swag bag filled with small gifts from participating vendors. The vendor lineup is identical on both days, but if you want your pick of the goods, your best bet is to get there early.

Visit refreshmarket.ca for full event details including the list of participating vendors. Admission is $5 at the door and $3 online. Get discounted early bird tickets at refreshmarket.ca/tickets.
