I Heart Carbon Exhibit
The Britannia Mine Museum is also launching its summer “I HEART Carbon” exhibit which runs from now until end of September, exploring the complexities of an element that’s all around and through us: carbon. From what is carbon, how it shapes the world we live, how it has been used throughout history, CO2 emissions, to innovations that capture and convert carbon compounds such as CO2 into assets and the future of carbon, just to name a few.
The “I HEART Carbon” exhibit also features several innovative Canadian companies who are bringing carbon innovations to life.
Carbon Engineering Ltd., Squamish, BC – Carbon Engineering is currently building the world’s first industrial pilot plant in Squamish to explore whether atmospheric carbon dioxide could be used to produce gasoline, diesel and other transportation fuels, which are cleaning burning than fossil fuels. www.carbonengineering.com
Fraser Valley Biogas, Abbotsford, BC – Fraser Valley Biogas was the first facility in North America to produce and supply renewable natural gas to customers, turning farm waste into natural gas and organic fertilizers. www.fraservalleybiogas.ca
Terra CO2 Technologies, Vancouver, BC – Terro CO2 Technologies is developing the technology for the conversion and long-term storage of excess atmospheric CO2 and acid rock drainage by reacting it with metal sulphide minerals to produce stable metal carbonate compounds and saleable sulphur by-products. www.terraco2.com
The “I HEART Carbon” exhibit is part of Canada’s Innovation150 program, a signature initiative of the Government of Canada’s sesquicentennial celebrations in honour of the country’s 150th birthday, by showcasing Canadian innovations of the past, and focuses on innovations that drive our future.
